C.C.G.D. Who's Who - George Ruland
I guess Chicago isn’t the best place to own a Corvette and since the last 30 years have been spent living and working there it just wasn’t in the cards to own one of these amazing autos. But with my retirement and a move back to sunny Florida where I was born and raised it was time to explore my inner child and purchase one example of “America’s true sports car”. It was this or “America’s true motorcycle” a Harley. Carol was a major influence on my final decision since she could share in the Corvette experience and would not come near a motorcycle.
This is not my first “performance” vehicle. In high school, I drove a souped up ’57 Chevy with 2 four barreled carbs, ¾ Corvette cam, solid magnesium lifters, Mallory ignition, reworked valves, etc. I competed in NHRA drag races (A-gas) winning several trophies and competed in Winter Nationals at Daytona Speedway. College and marriage ended my racing career.
