C.C.G.D. Who's Who - Sadie Compton
My 92 & our life’s ride at 170,329 miles & counting and it all started after the horse race in Virginia when my sister, Kathleen & husband to be, Bob saw an ad in the Washington Post, which had a sales slogan of “if you don’t get it, you don’t get it” well I got it, drove it out of Jo & Betty Friedl’s drive way, giving him a bad check, I had to transfer money from my credit card account to my bank account. Yes I bought a corvette with my credit card.
I then couldn’t wait for my first corvette event in my 92 corvettes, which was to the mountains of Virginia. I found myself between some guys who loved this road and they stayed behind to lets say enjoy what a corvette feels like going around those curves, what could a girl do but keep up. It is then that I knew I could race with the Northern Virginia Corvette Club and I did at Manassas Speedway where I met Bob, he gave me my first ride; fell in love with him and autocross racing. I went to a NASA racing school in Summit Point, learned not only how to race but to be a better driver. On the next to the last run my instructor drove my car to show me what it could do and coming into the last turn, heading to the front straight, my breaks gave out and the car did a 180 and ended up a foot from the wall. You talk about a ride. Bob changed my brake fluid, pumped the brake lines and I did the last run but did not go 104 down the straight away as I did in my first run. I raced for one year, won the 1st place in the ladies division which I owe my thanks to Barbara for racing else where that year or I wouldn’t have had a chance. I don’t race any more. Did I mention I have 170,329 miles on my car?
92 and I are now retired and living in South Daytona, Florida, 4 miles from Daytona International Speedway and enjoying life, 92 goes cruising with the Corvette Cruisers of Greater Daytona, to the Daytona Beach Golf Club, to City Island where I play tennis, goes to Christian Women’s Luncheons, to Bellair Lanes and to church at Atlantic Coast. My little red corvette goes well with my red hat when I’m out with the Red Hat LaCosta Senioritas. 92 had to stay home when I went to Detroit to bowl with my Mom, who has taken 80 trips around the sun and also in Detroit we had our yearly family reunion with my brother Billy from Washington, Deborah & Steve from Oregon, Kathleen from Virginia and Sonya from Oklahoma. Life is good, if only those along with Tina, Hal, Alexa, Megan, Bill, Doug, Theresa, Jessica, Marco, and Christina weren’t so far away and lived down the street.
My Love to all, your 1st Lady, Sadie & her 92 “O2BNAC4”
